Don’t let the stress of a last second move overwhelm you! Moving can typically take up to a few weeks when it’s all said and done, which can also come with hefty expenses. Whether life throws a curveball or you just want to avoid spending too much we have a few ideas that may make your transition easier than you thought it could be.

Ditch the junk you don’t need

Sometimes it’s difficult to part with those forgotten boxes full of knick-knacks stashed away in your attic. This is your chance to really evaluate whether their transportation to your new home is worth the headache. Recycle, donate, and throw away things you can’t sell. For the stuff that does sell, it can contribute to the expenses of the move.

Don’t think about it, just do it

It’s always a great idea to just dive right into the challenge. Here are some things you can do right away:

  • Pack now and organize later so you’re being proactive.
  • Have the boxes assembled.
  • Pack clothes as is for a quicker result.

Ask friends and family for assistance

Round up as many of your siblings and people from your social circle to help the day of the move. Delegation is key, so make sure everyone has the right job for their skill set. Also, be sure to properly feed and hydrate these kind souls throughout the day. It can get frustrating but don’t forget they’re taking time out of their day to help you.

Leave it to the professionals

If most of the options we’ve given before this still seem too stressful, then maybe its worth the investment hiring a moving company, like Roy’s. That doesn’t mean you have to pay the premium. Reach out to a few (3-5) and ask for quotes. The more research and digging you do, the more likely you are to find a great deal. However, make sure you’re paying attention to their reviews and ratings so you’re using the right company.
